Parent Helpers

We recognise the many skills that our parents have, so you are always warmly welcomed as volunteer helpers working alongside children in school. If you wish to do this, please make an appointment at the school office to see the Headteacher, as it will be necessary to have a brief discussion about how things work and complete a Criminal Records Bureau form.

Parents' Pages

We believe that education is a shared partnership between school and home. We encourage parents to become fully involved in their children’s learning and also in the life of the school. We will keep you informed of what is happening through our regular newsletters and other correspondence.

Setting the ground rules

We invite all parents to sign a Home School Agreement. This sets out our mutual expectations in supporting your child through their time at Park Primary School. Parents are also asked to sign a data protection form and an Internet agreement form to ensure the security of their child’s data and safety when using the internet.

Keeping you informed about the curriculum

We also organise meetings with parents to explain curriculum practice and developments. These are a forum for sharing information about the work of the school and also encouraging a common approach to issues such as reading or end of key stage tests.

Keeping you informed of your children’s progress

During the year there will be two formal opportunities to discuss your child’s progress and attainments and set and review individual targets for pupils. The staff, however, are pleased to discuss any issue or concerns about your child’s progress at any stage during the year and we appreciate your support if any difficulties are identified. Please do not hesitate to arrange an appointment with the classteacher or with the Headteacher if necessary.

Written reports are sent to parents annually at the end of the summer term, providing details of your child’s progress and identifying their next steps in learning. There is an opportunity for you to discuss this report if you wish.

Assemblies, Performances, Trips and Open Days

There are a number of occasions throughout the year when parents are invited in to school to share in special events such as celebration assemblies, performances, school trips, sporting events and special open days. Children really appreciate their parents’ support on these occasions and so do we.

Adult learning

At Park Primary School, we believe in life long learning. In addition to the programme of continuing professional development for staff at Park Primary School, we are hoping to increase the opportunities for other adult learning at Park Primary School, through the organisation of some special courses aimed at parents and other adults.

The PTA

All parents of children attending Park Primary School are members of the Parent Teacher Association (POPPY-Pals Of Park Primary Youngsters)). Our PTA is very active in raising funds for school through a wide variety of events. These include events such as Fun days, quiz nights, sponsored events, children’s discos to name but a few. The school benefits enormously from the hard work of our PTA members.
